stone floor polishing

Stone polishing is the art of transforming rough, dull stones into smooth, gleaming gems. It’s a process that can be both physically and aesthetically rewarding, revealing the hidden beauty within each stone.

There are two main methods of stone polishing: hand polishing and tumbling.

Hand polishing: is the traditional method, and it’s often used for smaller stones or those with unique shapes. It involves using a series of abrasive grits, typically applied with sandpaper or polishing pads, to gradually remove scratches and imperfections. Each grit progressively refines the surface, leaving a smoother and shinier finish.

Tumbling: is a more automated method, ideal for larger quantities of stones or those with irregular shapes. It involves placing the stones in a rotating barrel filled with abrasive grit and water. As the barrel tumbles, the stones rub against each other and the grit, gradually smoothing out their surfaces. Tumbling can take anywhere from a few hours to several days, depending on the desired level of polish.

It’s important to note that the specific steps and materials used for stone polishing can vary based on the type of stone and its condition. Some stones may require specialized techniques or professional assistance.
